🟩 Nvidia's Sneaky Silicon Swap: The New RTX 5050 & 5060 Variants

You already know the 50-series lineup. The 5060 Ti is already a known quantity out in the wild, often going head-to-head with older heavyweights like the RTX 3090 for gaming and local AI workloads. But the global component shortage is forcing Nvidia to get creative with the silicon they put inside these familiar cards.

• The 9GB RTX 5050: Instead of the standard specs, leaks point to a bizarre new RTX 5050 variant. It bumps the VRAM to 9GB using ultra-fast 28 Gbps GDDR7 modules. Even though the bus width drops to 96-bit, the faster memory actually increases total bandwidth by 5%.
• The "Franken-5060": Because of massive demand for the 5060 Ti, Nvidia is reportedly running out of the standard GB206 chips. To keep base 5060s on the shelves, they are taking cut-down versions of the more powerful RTX 5070 chips (GB205) and repurposing them into standard RTX 5060s.

🍄 Nintendo Switch 2: A Massive Storage Headache

The highly anticipated Switch 2 is facing a major roadblock: the massive boom in AI has made storage chips incredibly expensive.

The new Switch 2 will feature 256GB of onboard storage. That sounds decent until you realize that massive new games, like Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, sit at over 100GB. One single game will eat up 40% of the console's space.

To make matters worse, expanding that storage is getting pricey. Because of the global NAND chip shortage, the high-speed microSD Express cards required for the Switch 2 are seeing major price hikes, with 1TB cards jumping from $190 up to nearly $220.
